Return to . . . Normal?

I said my blogging would get spotty, and I was right. What I didn’t anticipate – couldn’t anticipate – was that it would almost vanish entirely.

Katrina is probably the single most-used word on the Internet in the past 8 days or so, and no wonder. There is lots I could say, but it’s all been said. I have the capacity for very emotional reactions – I’m one of those people who can tear up at a touching moment in a sit-com, for pete’s sake. An event on the order of Katrina leaves me nearly immobilized.

Gryphon and I aren’t in a position to donate any cash – it’s too rare a commodity for us right now. But I do have a bead stash that pre-exists our current financial state, and I have been making those beaded stitch markers. On Saturday, we put 12 sets of them in the mail to Margene and Susan to use as prizes in the Give A Little fundraising effort.

To date, Give A Little has raised $58,955.43 for the American Red Cross. And I’m sure that’s only the beginning.

Now that we’re past Labor Day, I do hope to get back to more beading again. I did find $2 to spare to buy a few beads this weekend – A.C.Moore sells Blue Moon Beads, and I found a short string of six blue-and-white porcelain “Hello Kitty” beads that had to come home with me. I’m a cat fan, but not so much a Hello Kitty fan, usually, but in the classic look of Delft-type porcelain, she’s really cute. Of course I don’t know what I’m going to do with them yet – but I’ll have them ready when I do!
Just Adorable!
