FOllow Up

Just a quicky post with a couple of FO follow up photos.

First up, the dicky I was knitting has arrived at its destination in Arizona, and the recipient was nice enough to take a picture of it for me.

The ultimate giftee will be getting this tomorrow, I’m told, and there will be an effort to get a photo of it being modeled.

The dicky is a strong candidate for a pattern offering, though I think this would have to be for sale rather than a freebie. And I’ll need to do up some samples in different yarns to finalize the pattern. I’d say, stay tuned, but don’t hold your breath. You may look good in blue, but not that way!

Last night, I finished the fingerless mitts I was knitting from my own handspun yarn. As luck would have it, there was, in fact, enough yarn to make the mitts without adding in any commercial yarns! So here they are, in all their pink and yellow mixy-matchy glory!

The pinks in one are a bit more vibrant than the other, but otherwise, they go well together. Yes, the yarn was far from perfect – many sections were too tightly twisted, and there were lots of slubs – but it knit well, they look good, and as I can attest from wearing them out on errands today, they are warm and cozy. I think we can call this a success!

Next up on the project focus – my Kiri shawl. Yes, that one. As in, my Knitting Olympics project from, oh, about a year ago. I have to get this one finished, I have other lace projects I want to move on to!

The mitts are really pretty!

That dicky is interesting–it looks really complicated, I can see that stitches are heading off in different directions etc. I bet it is very warm, too!

[…] First up, though, a touch of old business. You may remember that I knit a request for a friend – a dicky for her motorcycle-riding boyfriend, Ken? Said friend recently sent me a photo of Ken wearing the dicky, along with the crocheted hat she made from the leftover yarn. […]
