WIP: Sock Experiment 3 Approaches Completion!

I haven't been posting for a while for various reasons, but I have been knitting. When last we looked in on Sock Experiment 3, I was still working on completing a good toe that fit.

It took me three tries, but I finally did it! I had thought that I was starting the toe decreases at the right place for my foot...turns out, I wasn't knitting the foot long enough first. Once I figured out how long the foot portion of the sock had to be, I was able to follow the directions straight out of Cool Socks, Warm Feet for decreasing the toe. I got a perfect fit.

So with all the time I haven't been posting, I've actually been working on a sock to match the first one. Here's where we stand on that today:

If I can keep working at this pace, I should have the second sock finished within 24 hours. Hooray!

Thoughts for the next pair are already forming. At the length I've knitted the leg, the socks are shorter than I like, and I've used up more than half of a ball of Sockotta yarn for one sock anyhow. I'm going to take the yarn left from one of these socks, and knit just a section of 80-stitch, k1p1 to see how many more inches I could do the legs to maximize the use of the yarn. I'll also try that test cuff on to see if I need to increase any to fit my calf as I go. The next pair of socks I make will then be knit for a longer cuff.

Thanks for your patience between active fiber postings - my blogging life re-organization is pretty much done now, and it should be easier for me to post here at least once a week.

I'm also learning some rudimentary HTML and have acquired a good free editor to let me create basic webpages. The point of mentioning that here? I hope to be able to share some of the patterns I've created myself. So keep watching!
