Autumn Leaves, Be-Socked Teddy Bear, and Secret Knitting
It's actually a little early for good color here in Southern NH, but we are starting to see the early signs. These three pictures are of a tree outside of the local Target store.

Yes, they're all the same tree. Autumn never comes in solid colors, only in handpaints!

I grew up in Syracuse NY before moving to New Hampshire almost 13 years ago. We had autumn in Syracuse, too, but never like it is here in New England. The first fall I was in New Hampshire, Gryphon and I were driving someplace and I looked around at the amazing colors. All of a sudden I realized something - the trees were displaying all the colors you can find in a bowl of Fruit Loops! This is why my slogan for the season here is "Autumn in New England - Like Driving Through a Bowl of Fruit Loops!"
Before posting this entry, I decided to step out into our own yard and see what fall color was visible from home. This view is looking west on Main Street. In fact, you can see the first bridge from my 11 Bridges in 140 Minutes Extreme Knitting adventure towards the bottom of the picture - it's the green railings along the road.

Early Color in Wilton
The brick building in the center left is the Wilton Police Department. The trees in back of the building line the river on the right (behind the parking) and a hillside along the railroad right-of-way behind the building. Later in the season, this hill will look like that bowl of Fruit Loops I mentioned.
Now, over at Quiddity, we've been asked to display in a single photo all the socks we've ever knitted. Well, for me, that's a total of five - if you count the miniature one I made. Rather than just laying them on my bed, I decided to also introduce you to my number one non-human companion, Earnest.

Earnest E. Bear in his modeling debut
Doesn't he look handsome? I'm not sure the socks are the most stunning fashion statement, but Earnest is a very tolerant being. The miniature sock is being worn over the pendant on his necklace, btw.
As to my own knitting - well, I've been doing a fair bit of it, but I really can't talk about most of it. I'm designing several projects that I realize have potential as patterns to sell, and I've learned from reading other designers' blogs that places that may publish your patterns often have a restriction that they can't have been displayed in other forms first, including blogs. So I'm taking these projects seriously, and assuming they can go somewhere - which means I can't talk about them except in the most generic terms, and I can't share pictures.
I do have several projects I want to do that I could talk about, but I haven't cast on for them yet. I should probably remedy that so I'll have something to share here!
